New Methane Rules Help Environment, Economy

Several states in the U.S. have recently added new regulations on methane emissions, particularly from small, leak-prone wells that are often left unattended.

New Mexico passed new rules that aim to crack down on venting, flaring, and other sources of emissions. They include minimum requirements for calculating emissions, certifying emissions reports, and fixing leaks.

Colorado passed some of the first methane regulations in 2014 and continues to lead the way, advocating for additional funding and legislation around methane emissions.

Pennsylvania is selling the benefits of methane mitigation both to the environment as well as the economy. The state is educating residents about how reducing methane emissions helps the environment while providing good jobs and local economic growth

Methane mitigation is itself becoming a growing industry, with service providers, emerging technology, and huge potential for growth.

Hear from and engage with hundreds of methane mitigation leaders on all of these new regulations, opportunities, roadmaps, projects, tech & best practices at the Methane Strategies Forum in June.
